Imphal, November 17 2008: FAMILY AND relatives of Basanta have expressed strong disagreement with charge of being informer of police and security personnel and extorting money in the named of KCP(MC) level against Basanta who was shot to injure at face today.

Mention may be made that Basanta of Kumbi Bazar was shot at to injure at the face by some miscreants on November 13 which KCP(MC) has declared that he had been punished for being informer of security forces and police commandos and also collecting money amounting to Rs 20,000 from a local man.

In a press conference held today at Manipur Press Club, elder brother of Basanta named Ibohal in presence of his uncle Thoiba while refusing the charges against Basanta said that he and his injure brother never been informers of the Assam Rifles or the police commandos given by the KCP(MC) .

If the group happened to conduct a dip investigation into the allegation and said it with exact evidences, they will take willingly to the punishment given to them.

Instead, the incident occurred when they are trying to bring a negotiation with a demand served on them by the KCP(MC) Khuman, he said.

They said that KCP (MC) has been demanding Rs 5 lakhs from them.
