Imphal, January 14 2009: A KCP(MC) activist who exploded a bomb at a house at Sekmai was saved by police before locals thrashed him last night even as another bomb exploded at the house of a doctor of the JN Hospital at Kwakeithel Laishram Leikai this evening around 6.45 .

Decrying the hurling and exploding of bomb for money demand in the populated area, residents of Sekmai today staged a sit-in protest at Sekmai Bazar.

The incident at Sekmai occurred around 7.30 pm last night.

A youth said to be an activist of the KCP (MC) hurled and exploded a hand grenade at the house of an Assistant Commissioner of state Revenue Department posted at Kangpokpi, Maharabam Gouro.

The youth was immediately caught by the locals but a police team led by an SDPO attached at Sekmai police station who arrived at the spot quickly has taken him to their custody before eating the public wrath.

Today, Sekmai police revealed the named of the caught youth as Langpoklakpam Shanta (25) son of late Bira of Nillakuthi Makha Leikai.

Another youth named Lulun Kuki hailing from Churachandpur managed escaped.

As per disclosure made by Shanta, he and his escaped accomplish were working under Khumsn alias Kumar, commander in chief of the KCP(MC) .

A demand letter address to Gouro and signed by Thoubal district commander of the outfit was also seized by the police from the nabbed activist, police said.

Denouncing the act of the militants hurling bombs and exploded at the populated area, residents of Sekmai today staged a sit-in demonstration at Sekmai Bazar.

At the site of the protest slogan like, "We want right to live, Don't violate right to life of the people, we want peace, we appealed not to repeat the incident again were displayed.

The protest started from 10 am and went on till 4 pm.

Meanwhile, a bomb hurled at the house of one Dr.Laishram Joykumar, serving at JN Hospital at Kwakeithel Laishram Leirak by suspected militants exploded tonight at around 6.45 pm.

The bomb exploded at the front courtyard of the doctor's house.

None sustained injury in the explosion but windshields of a car (MN-1A 3859) belonging to the doctor parking nearby the blast side shattered.

The blast has caused panicky not only to the family but also to the neighbouring and the act has been strongly condemned by the locals.

They said in the recent time too, a bomb was placed at the gate of the brother of the doctor who is an EE of the IFCD posting at Khuga Project.
