Imphal, June 30 2009: One UG suspect was killed tonight around 8.20 in a reported encounter with a team of the Imphal West district police commando at a place near Chandrandi River under Wangoi Police Station in Imphal West.

According to a report, the encounter took place between suspected undergrounds and a team of Imphal West district police commando attached to the Wangoi police station.

One 9mm pistol and three live rounds of ammunition were recovered from the possession of the slain militant.

Though the identity of the slain man could not be established immediately, the police suspect him to be an activist of the KCP (MC).

The dead body has been deposited at the RIMS morgue for identification and autopsy, the report added.
