Two UGs killed by AR

Imphal, January 31 2009: TROOPS OF Assam Rifles killed two suspected militants in what they said in clash with militants last night at around 9.30 pm at Laibi village located some 40 km on the south west of Moreh police station of Chandel district, officials said today.

According to police report, troops of 29 Assam Rifles engaged in the clash with the militants also recovered a 9mm pistol with a magazine loaded with two live rounds, two empty cases, a 7.65 pistol with magazine loaded with a live round, three empty case, a cash amount of Rs 410 and two diaries from the slain militants.

The slain men whose identities are to yet establish have been deposited at RIMS morgue by the police today.

They seem to belong to Meetei and age around 25 to 30 years.

One of them has a tattoo mark at the hand and written as John Noubi.

Meanwhile, the dead body of the man killed by Imphal west police commandos at Khuman Lampak on January 28 identified as Thangjam Haridas of Churachandpur Khumuchamba Meetei Leikai has been received today by the family after postmortem at RIMS morgue.

The dead body was taken after there brought about an agreement between the JAC formed in connection with the killing of Hairdas and power minister Phungjathang Tonsing who is also the circle MLA, reports said.
