Two suspects killed in separate shootouts

Imphal, December 29 2008: SECURITY FORCES gunned down two persons suspected to be activists of the KCP(MC) in different militancy-related fatalities.

The first incident occurred at around 6.15 pm at Napet Pali under Lamlai police station between a combined force of Imphal east commandos and troops of 23 Assam Rifles and suspected armed militants, according to the police source.

When the combined ordered to some four to five persons who were moving in suspicion manner in the area to stop, they fired upon the combined forces in which they retaliated resulting to the killing one of them.

Other managed escaped.

A 9mm pistol with four live rounds of ammunitions recovered from the spot, the police report said.

The other one was killed by a combined force of Imphal west police commandos in join operation with the troops of 32 Assam Rifles at Kakwa Liwa road under Singjamei police station at around 7 pm.

Police said the suspect was gunned down in an retaliatory action of the combined force when three persons moving in a suspicious manner fired upon the security force to stop.

A 9 mm pistol along with two spelled out cases was recovered from the spot where the suspect was gunned down.

Both the dead bodies have been recovered from the spot by the police personnel of the respective police stations from the spots and deposited at RIMS morgue for official identification.
