Women bodies decry Phayeng murders

Imphal, January 25 2010: Various women bodies decried the brutal murder of Angom Chanbi and her teenaged daughter Menaka (Ibemcha).

Conflict Widow's Forum (Manipur) while condemning the incident demanded the State Government for taking up necessary action to curb such heinous crimes.

The forum also condoled the death of Sangita of Ghari, who was found hung to death on January 22 .

Strongly condemning the murder of mother-daughter duo, Coalition on Children's Right to Protection (CCRP), Manipur asserted that poor and weaker sections of the society are the most affected lot in a State where 'rule of law' is not properly enforced.

The body further said that such crimes may affect more and more people if the perpetrators are not punished in time.

CCRP also urged upon the State Government to provide necessary aid to the three children left behind by the deceased mother.

All Manipur Nupi Marup while condemning the brutal murder urged upon the State Government to bring the culprits into book at the earliest.

Decrying the heinous crime, Ima Leimarel Apunba Lup, Churachandpur questioned why the Government was helpless in tracing the whereabouts of the mother-daughter duo for 13 days.

The women's body also demanded for befitiing punishment to the criminals.

Chanura Lamchinglel Kangleipak and Momnu Eerikhombee Lup also strongly the condemned the murder of Chanbi and Menaka.
