Imphal, June 17 2009: Arrest and detention of students in connection with killing of the professor Md Islamuddin even though an underground group own up the killing is like hitting to the soft target when police unable to arrest the culprits, stated the protestors as the protest against detention of five students continued today also at many places.

When the professor was killed by an underground outfit, arresting students and detained them under NSA is like "thingel-da tainaba ngamdraga nasikhong-da tainaba".

Government must release the five students taking into account of the demand of the people without any condition at the earliest, the protestors appealed.

Today, sit-in protests were staged at Maria Montessori Senior Secondary School, Koirengei, Achanbigei Aided High School, Achanbigei Shanti-Raksha Women Welfare Association, Kontha Women Social Information Development Society, Luwangshangbam Mayai Leikai Nupi Lup, Matai Women Welfare Association, Khabam Lamkhai Nupi Lup and Singjamei Waikhom Leikai Nupi Lup.

The same protests were also at Khongnang Pheidekpi Emoinu Lampak.

They also burnt down the effigy of the chief minister by shouting various slogans like "Maheiroi Phaba Yaning-de, Phajinkhiba Maheiroi Thadok-u".

At the protest site, slogans like, "students are not criminal, DESAM-not criminal, denounce arresting students, release students without any conditions, DESAM's campaign for quality education is not against government policy, NSA is not for the students, government, don't try to convert students body as underground outfits were displayed.
