Imphal, November 16 2008: A PUBLIC meeting held at New Keithelmanbi today has today has called to stop killing people by the security forces by bringing there alleging that they bring men there and shot dead frequently.

The meeting was organized jointly by the villagers of 19 villages situated from New Keithelmanthi to Kotlien and Keithelmanbi Bazar Board Development Committee.

The meeting while expressing strong condemnation to the shooting to dead of people in the area by the security forces after allegedly bring there resolved to face any further incidents of such type occurring in the area in future among others.

It also resolved to submit a memorandum to the state chief minister to look into the matter of converting killing in some areas of the state by the security forces in general and particularly to the area and also to take up necessary measures to check such type of killing people carried out by the security forces.

The meeting also resolved to stage a sit-in protest on November 23 in the area decrying the acts of the security forces.

As stated by the people attending the meeting, in the recent time, killing of people after bringing there had occurred at least for three times.

They also said that they had also witnessed bringing man with hand tied there by the security men and killed there.

Regarding the matter they had also lodged complain to the local MLA, they added.

Today's meeting was attended by village chiefs of the area and representative of several civil organisations.
