Imphal, December 13 2008: A MAN who sustained serious bullet wounds in shots fired by unknown persons in the courtyard of his hous at Awang Sekmai died before doctors could attend to him around 6.25 pm today.

The deceased has been identified as Maharabam Rajen (40), son of M Nongyai of Awang Sekmai.

He sells meat at the Sekmai New Market.

Reports said that two unknown persons came to the house of his elder brother when he also happened to be in that house to discuss matters relating to marriage ceremony of his elder brother's son, and he as called out to have talk in the courtyard.

Then one of the two miscreants shot him.

One of the miscreants took out a small gun while having talks and fired him twice, the report said adding that he was immediately brought up to the RIMS hospital Imphal but succumbed to injury before reaching hospital.

Police as well as family is yet to know the motive behind the shooting to death of Rajen who was earning livelihood by selling meat at Sekmai New Market.
