Imphal, November 12 2008: AT LEAST a militant killed and four other apprehended by the security forces and police in separate incidents occurred in the last two days.

They seized weapons and ammunitions, officials said today.

Troops of 29 Assam Rifles killed a militant at Leikhul village under Tengnoupal police station of Chandel district last night at around 8 pm.

A 9mm pistol loaded with four live rounds which was said to be recovered from the slain militant along with the dead body was handed over to the Tengnoupal police station, official reports said.

The dead body which the identity is yet to establish has been brought up in Imphal this afternoon and deposited at RIMS morgue for official procedure.

Today at around 5 am a combined force of Bishnupur police commandos and troops of 4/5 Gorkha Rifles picked up two KYKL cadres during a search operation in and around the Oinam and Noarem villages and recovered two 9mm pistol loading with three live rounds.

The nabbed cadres were named as Chirom Tiken alias Premkumar (33) son of Shyam of Waheng Khuman and Yendrembam Shyamkumar alias Kora (21), said a statement of the Bishnupur district police today.

Two activists of the KCP(MC) were also apprehended by a team of the Imphal east police commandos yesterday at around 11.30 am from near Tugs and Bons oil station, Hatta Golapati and seized 14 demand letters of the outfit.

The two apprehended persons were later identified as RK Shyamson (38) son of Amusana of Khoyathong Pukhri Mapal and Ngangbam Brajabihari alias Akoi (38) son of Brajabihari of Leikinthabi, a statement of the SP, Imphal east said today.

A meeting chaired by the state chief minister, O Ibobi Singh on November 7 last has also discussed on the comments of the police and BSF in which state chief secretary Rakesh, principal secretary home DS Poonia and DGP Y Joykumar took part.

The meeting mainly discussed on the extension of disturbed area status beyond November 30 and asked the state home department to finalize the preparation of the Cabinet memorandum as early as possible after the received of the comments and views of the other security establishments and tabled the same in the next Cabinet meeting which is schedule to held within this month.

The Cabinet meeting is likely to held after the state chief minister who is currently in New Delhi for official business back to Imphal.

Source said that among other the meeting of November 7 last also discussed on the installation of CCTV Camera and ex-ray baggage inspection system, EBIS at Manipur Bhavan, New Delhi which has already been installed in the chief minister's bungalow in the aftermath of attack by PREPAK by exploding a lathod bomb inside the bungalow in the first week of last month, October.

The meeting also discussed on the work allocation of senior police officers and filling up of vacant posts of the range officers of the department, the source said.
