Imphal, January 10, 2010: Outrightly denying its involvement in the killing of non-locals in the state, the proscribed UNLF termed it as yet another move to tarnish the image of the groups engaged in liberation movement in the eyes of the people and brand them as part of global terrorism.

In a press release issued by its Senior Officer, Ksh Yoiheiba, the UNLF said the attempt to pin the killings of non-locals on PLA, KYKL and UNLF is yet another move as part of the continuing secret agenda of the Government of India to defame the groups.

Also, there are no reasons to disbelieve what people are saying that police commandos are indulging in these killings to divert attention from people's anger against the Ibobi-led government.

UNLF/MPA has nothing to do with the killing of non-locals have been made absolutely clear to the public in the month of February, said the release, where its perspective on migrant workers was elaborately put forth.

But the UNLF is forced to place before the public certain things anew to counter the propaganda to tarnish its name, said the release.

In a total population of 24 lakhs in Manipur, the population of outsiders is now above 8 lakhs, which is much higher than the total population of the hill people They are not only robbing the employment opportunities of the local people but they are slowly eroding the identity of the indigenous people.
