Two Non-Manipuris killed

Imphal, June 04 2009: TWO NON-Manipuri miigrant labourers were shot dead today by unidentified gunmen at a spot located between Irengban and Leiimaram village under Nammbol Police Station in Bishhenpur district.

A piece of paper on which was written "IOF na meecham hatlabadi mokhoigi meesu ekhoina hatkani (if IOF kill innocent people, we will also kill their men) was found in the pockket of the deceased noncals believed to be migrant labourers.

The two non-locals were shot dead by the misscreants today at around 3.15 pm.

The place where the incident took located seven km on the south west of the Nambol police station.

Today's incident was the second such incident in the last 24 hours.

A migrant labourer was shot dead in the broad daylight yesterday at Khurai Lamlong Bazar in Imphal east district.

Even though the identities of the two slain non-locals could not be confirmed officially, as I-card issued by Maphou dam authority, Ansal A Kamble recovered, one of them could be one Md Tomba (42) son of Islamuddin (senior driver).

Police suspected the other one, sub-contractor of the dam construction Sepai hailing from Silchar.

For official identification, the dead bodies have been kept at RIMS morgue.

Local reports said that they have seen two to three unidentified men on a Mahindra Jeep coming together with the two non-locals towards the Laimaram road.

No sooner had they reached there, sounds of firing guns could be heart, they added.

So far about 13 non- Manipuri migrant labourers were shot dead by unidentified gunmen this year in different parts of the state.

Altogether 15 non- Manipuri labourers were shot dead in different incidents in Manipur last year, police said.

The jeep used by the miscreants was later discovered by the police.
