Imphal, December 28 2009: A combined force of Imphal West police commando and 39 AR led by OC Krishnatombi has rescued the Manager of Airtel Click Communication from the custody of underground elements after killing two of them tonight at Mapao Thangal village under Saikul police station in Sadar hills.

The rescued manager is Kh Joychandra (48) of Singjamei Bheigyapati Leikai.

In the continuing rescue operation, the combined force came across a group of armed underground elements near the Mapao Thangal Naga village at about 8 pm tonight.

A heavy gun fight followed.

When the underground elements remain silent, the security personnel of combined force launched a spot search and found two dead bodies of underground activists.

Later the combined force rescued Kh Joychandra.

The shootout continued for nearly 30 minutes, police said adding that the combined team recovered one AK 56 rifle and one 9mm Norinco pistol along with a number of live rounds.

Police have kept Joychandra at a safe place.

Earlier, a combined force had rescued another manager.
