Imphal, August 28 2009: Lawyers of lower courts in Imphal suspended works of the day and staged a sit-in protest decrying yesterday's bomb attack at a Cheirap court complex by miscreants.

At the protest, placards with "Don't disturb in the court, don't cause panic to people, lawyers are for the people, we condemn the bomb attack," etc.

On the other hand, an emergency meeting of the Manipur Judicial Officers Association held at the District and Session Judge court, Imphal east (Cheirap Court) this afternoon at 1 has also strongly condemned the bomb attack incident.

After thoroughly discussed on the incident, resolved to press the state government's law enforcing agencies to take up measures to ensure safety at the court complexes to prevent repetition of such incident in future.

The meeting also decided to furnish a resolution copy each of the meeting were also forwarded to the state chief secretary, DGP, Gauhati high Court registrar.

The meeting was attended by among others Imphal bench registrar NG Max Phajang, district and session judge, Imphal east, Th Surbala, judge of the family welfare court, Ph Surendra, revenue tribunal officer, K Bipinchandra, district and session judge Imphal east, Kh Gomti, special court judge U Kol etc.
