Imphal, March 23 2010: The United Tribal Liberation Army (UTLA) has strongly condemned the March 21 incident which its four cadres were allegedly killed by NSCN (K) Zeliangrong region.

A press release issued by UTLA C-in-C Nengsong Kuki said that he sent Lt James Singson to Longkaiphun on the invitation of Captain Raja of NSCN (K) Zeliangrong region.

At Longkaiphun, the UTLA cadres led by James Singson held a meeting with NSCN (K) cadres led by a deputy of Captain Raja.

After dinner, both the parties left for Longpi at about 6 pm with an understanding to hold another meeting on the next day.

But at about 11.30 pm of the same night, NSCN (K) cadres opened indiscriminate fire towards the unsuspecting UTLA cadres killing four of them including James Singson.

However, five UTLA cadres managed to escape and reach their tactical headquarters.

Taking strong exception to the unprovoked attack, the UTLA has asked the NSCN (K) Zeliangrong region to clarify their stand points and also not to 'sell their barbaric and coward activities to Assam Rifles'.

It further accused 5 AR of misinforming the general public about the March 21 incident.
