New Delhi, March 19 2009: A sit in protest was held on March 13 at Oinam bazaar under the aegis of the Oinam Meira Paibee Lup against the attack of the Bishnupur District Congress Committee president, Waikhom Maipak on the intervening night of March 11 and 12 by two unidentified gunmen, a press release of the Lup signed by its Joint Secretary, N Sanahanbi Devi said.

The participants of the sit in protest have registered their strong condemnation over the attack of the Bishnupur DCC president while demanding the concerned group to clarify through media over the attack within five days time, it said.

It also prohibit the entry of outsiders without the permission of the Oinam Nagar Panchayat authority after 7pm while it also said that the Meira Paibee will keep watch on every locality of Oinam after 7pm, the release said.
