Imphal, February 27 2009: At least three suspected militants were gunned down by the Imphal east police commandos and combined force tonight after the curfew hour began at two separate places.

One of the shooting incident occurred at 6.15 pm at a place lying between Iribung and Kairang under Irilbung police station and one suspect was killed in the shoot out by a combined team of Imphal east police commandos and troops of 28th Assam Rifles.

A 9mm pistol loaded with three live rounds of ammunitions recovered from the slain man suspected to be PULF cadre, police said.

The dead body which seems to be of aged around 35 has been retrieved from the spot by the police and deposited at RIMS morgue for identification.

The other shoot out incident which two suspects gunned down occurred near the Khurai Girls Higher Secondary School, Lamlong Bazar under Porompat police station at around 8.30 pm.

Police suspected the slain persons to be activists of the KCP(MC) and recovered one .38 pistol loaded with three live rounds in a magazine along with a hand grenade.

Police report said that they suspected one of the slain men to be a sergeant major of the outfit name Siken.

The dead bodies have been collected from the spot and deposited at RIMS morgue for official identifications, police added.
