Imphal, October 25 2009: The proscribed United National Liberation Front (UNLF) has claimed having awarded death penalty to one Pukhrambam Mangoljao, son of P Biren of Kumbi Kangjeibung Manak on the intervening night of October 18 and 19 for his established involvement in the killing of a five year old boy Soram Prabhakar alias Thoi after snatching gold earrings from him.

A statement issued by senior publicity officer of the UNLF, Ksh Yoiheiba maintained that some individuals suspected to be involved in the crime were interrogated by the outfit.

On interrogation, plenty of evidences of the involvement of Mangoljao were found.

P Mangoljao was also said to have personally admitted his involvement in the crime to the investigating team.

The statement observed that murdering a child just for the sake of piece of jewelries is a heinous crime.

Holding that the existence of such audacious criminal will be a problem for the society, the UNLF's civil court has awarded him death penalty.

The penalty was executed by a selected team of the outfit on the intervening night of October 18 and 19, the statement conveyed.
