Imphal, January 25 2010: Decrying the killing of one Md Fazeruddin (45) of Thoubal Moijing by Assam Rifles, people of Moijing blocked Thoubal-Mayang Imphal road today.

Contending that Fazeruddin was pulled up from his home, the local people dismissed the AR claim that Fazeruddin was a PULF cadre and he was killed in an encounter.

Under the aegis of the JAC constituted against the killing, local people of Moijing blocked the inter-district road since morning.

Thoubal police commandos broke the blockade by firing several rounds of tear gas shells and bullets, causing injuries to at least one boy and seven women protesters.

The police team also fired tear gas shells at New Model English School besides pulling up around 10 individuals.

The villagers said that they recovered two unexploded tear gas shells and eight empty cases of AK ammunition.

Citing AR report, police had claimed that Fazeruddin was killed in an encounter with troops of 33 R at Saiton Awang Leikai in the intervening night of January 21 and 22 .

It was also claimed that one 9 mm pistol and detonator of a Chinese hand grenade were recovered from him.

JAC member Md Sukur said that it had been just 15 days Fazeruddin shifted to Saiton from Moijing when he was killed.

Contending that Fazeruddin was a humble peasant, Sukur said that the JAC would call off its agitation immediately in case proof of Fazeruddin having relations with PULF can be produced.

The JAC would not claim the corpse of Fazeruddin rather it would continuing with various modes of protest, Sukur said.

Meanwhile, Fazeruddin's widow Memcha filed a complaint at Moirang police station asserting that her husband was killed in a fake encounter after he was pulled up from their home.

She further accused the security personnel involved in taking away her husband of robbing cash and jewellery from her house.

According to the complaint, Fazeruddin was taken away by around 20 security personnel who spoke Hindi and Manipuri at about 8 pm of January 21 .

The security personnel had their mouths covered with black scarfs.

In addition to vandalising household articles, they robbed Rs 30,000 in cash and jewellery items from the house.

Fazeruddin who was wearing khudei when he was picked up was found wearing unfit camouflage dress when he was found dead, Memcha said in her complaint.
