Imphal, April 23 2009: AFTER A temporary lull, killing of suspected underground activists by the security forces has recurred with three persons shot dead in two separate places in the valley today.

The first incident of killing occurred this evening around 5 pm at Sadu Chiru road connecting with Ningthoukhong under Bishnupur police station.

A combined force of 4/8 Gorkha Rifles and Bishnupur district police commandos killed the suspect in what police report said was encounter.

A country made carbine loaded with five rounds of ammunitions recovered from the slain suspect.

The identity of the deceased is yet to establish.

The other incident killing two suspects occurred tonight around 7.30 pm at Khongman Okram Chuthek Yubaraj Pali under Irilbung police station.

They were gunned down by a combined force of 28 Assam Rifles and Imphal east police commandos.

A 9 mm pistol with four live rounds of ammunitions, a .38 revolver with two live rounds of bullets, two empty case, three demand letters of the KCP, Lamyanba Khuman (C-in-C) signed by district commander Rom Meetei recovered from the spot where the youths were found dead.

Police have transferred the three dead bodies to RIMS morgue where post mort em will be held in the next one or two days.
