Imphal, May 20 2009: A down to dusk Singjamei Kendra general strike on May 21 has been called against the killing of Loitongbam Satish killed by the security forces after reportedly pick up from near the Shajiwa Jail on May 16 last even as the other man Pebam Gunindro pick up together with him and later handed over to police has been remanded to police custody for four days today.

The Committee on the Killing of L Satish has called the 12-hour general strike in the entire Singjamei Kendra tomorrow.

It will be effective from 6 am till 6 pm of tomorrow, according to the committee who stated that essential services will be keep outside the purview of the strike.

On the other hand, Pebam Gunindro alias Gunen of Hoabam Marak who was picked together with the deceased Satish but later handed over to Lamlai police station by the troops of 23 Assam Rifles alleging him as PLA cadre was produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, first class, Imphal with a prayer for remanding to judicial custody.

Lamlai police produced him under the FIR case no.38(5)2009 of the Lamlai police station with a prayer for remanding to police custody for further interrogation to the arrestee.

Gunindro was handed over by the troops of the Assam Rifles stating that he was rounded up during an encounter with the claimed that five rounds of AK ammunition, two detonators recovered from him.
