UNLF suspects fake encounter

Imphal, November 19 2009: The proscribed United National Liberation front (UNLF) has clarified that no encounter had taken place between the outfit and security forces on November 14 near border pillar No 81 in Chandel district which resulted in the killing of two UG suspects whose bodies are still lying at RIMS morgue as unidentified bodies.

A statement issued by the senior publicity officer of the UNLF, Ksh Yoiheiba expressed deep suspicion that the two dead bodies might not have been killed in an encounter as claimed by the PRO of the 'IOF' but killed after arresting them from some places or the two could have been a killed after surrendering before the SF.

It observed that many innocent traders have been killed after apprehending them on the Imphal-Moreh route or vice-versa.

Though the PRO of the AR claimed that they were underground activists, the UNLF statement.

contended that there were many eye witnesses to the dragging down of innocents from buses.

The SF had killed three UNLF-retired persons in various staged encounter including Lokchao and Kasom after arresting them from their homes in Imphal to further their propaganda.

It noted that there have been numerous instances of the security forces claiming arrest of some persons in operations conducted in Moreh actually after arresting them from Imphal.

There were also instances of killing some people after using them in their services.

It also cautioned the people that whenever the AR claimed that suspected UGs were killed in an encounter, the victims could be either be innocents arrested from different places or they could be surrendered UGs who are killed after making to serve them.

It stated that the people have to know that the identities of any 'unknown' dead bodies claimed by the SF should have been known to them.
