Imphal, October 19 2009: Two non-locals injured in firing during wild quarrel at a party to celebrate Diwali last night at about 9.30 pm at Thangal Bazar within the jurisdiction of the Imphal City Police Station.

The two injured persons were identified as Binod (28) and Rajesh Gupta (27).Both received bullet injuries at left thigh and admitted at Shija hospital.

Reports from the place of occurrence stated that they sustained bullet injuries during a fracas erupted in a feast party as part of Diwali celebration.

One of the persons in the party took out a license gun (double bore barrel gun) and fired at them.

Binod has been operated to take out bullet that stuck at his left thigh.

Both are treating at the hospital.

In Manipur Diwali, the festival of light was celeberated amidst tight security particularly in Imphal city area where thousands of people thronged to lights decorated in the shops.

The incident of firing gun took place amidst the tight security of the area at Thangal Bazar.
