Imphal, July 07 2009: The Revolutionary People's Front (RPF) and its armed wing PLA have offered revolutionary salute to Kongkham Babu @ Basanta @ Sgt Chingamba (Army No.2320) of Jiribam Lamlong Bazar who was killed by a team of 29th AR on July 4 what the outfit said "after arrest".

A statement issued by the Chief, Department of Publicity, RPF, GM Changjou asserted that K Babu was arrested by troops of 29AR on July 3 while checking the vehicle in which he was traveling from Moreh towards Imphal at Tengnoupal.

It stated that he was heading to his new posting place at Div 8 following his transfer from the fighting troop.

Clarifying that he had no arms in his possesion at the time of his arrest, Changjou stated that apart from his clothing, he had Rs 5000 on his person.

Changjou also refuted the claim of the AR made through the media that the other person killed along with Babu was a cadre of the PLA.

The other person was not a cadre of PLA.

He was also killed in their custody, Changjou asserted.

The statement further clarified that there was no encounter with the AR on that day at Ril Ram centre and that the PLA has not lost any weapon.

The party shared the grief of the bereaved family and relatives of the slain Babu.
