Imphal, October 29 2009: The police have today said that the underground Kuki National Front (KNF) cadres were responsible for the killing of Dr Huidrom Binodkumar on October 21 after abducting him on October 21 .

As per a police report furnished to a court, Wahengbam Sunil son of (L) W Rajen of Khurai Nandeibam Leikai, an accused in the murder of Dr Binodkumar, was arrested by the Heingang Police on October 23 .

He was remanded into police custody for five days after he was produced before the court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal today.

According to an investigation conducted as per suo motu case filed on the incident by the Heingang police under Section 302/34 IPC, Wahengbam Sunil was arrested by the police on October 23 around 10am from his home, the report said.

W Sunil was produced before the court of the Additional CJM, Imphal on October 23 wherein he was remanded in police custody for five days.

The report revealed that W Sunil is said to have admitted his involvement in the killing of Dr H Binodkumar during police interrogation.

Sunil was said to have revealed that, he along with four cadres of the KNF including an active member Mamang Kuki had abducted Dr Binodkumar from North AOC area on October 21 around 2pm.Sunil further revealed that they took Dr Binodkumar to Ishikha village.

They left Mamang Kuki at a tasar farm located near Yumnam Khunou to get information about the movement of security forces, the report stated.

The police report said that Sunil had collected Rs 3 lakh from Dr Binodkumar on earlier occasion for the same outfit.

Around 11am on the day of the incident, Sunil had inquired the amount of money in the account of Dr Binodkumar to a cashier at the UCO Bank.

Sunil was also said to have disclosed that he is an active KNF cadre after getting full military training in 2005.He joined the KNF through one Aboy Kuki, a self styled 2nd lieutenant of the KNF.

He had also served a demand of Rs 5lakh to Dr Binodkumar.

He had also been detained under NSA.
