Two youths shot dead

Imphal, December 28 2009: Bullet riddled dead bodies of two youths with a piece of paper written as they were killed for acting as informers were retrieved by the police today from near a canal at Heikhrujam under Patsoi police station.

The two were later identified as Ngangom Nanao @ England (30) son of Ibochou of Singjamei Chinga Mathak near Manipur College and Laishram Challamba (26), son of Babudon of Nungou Maning Leikai of Thoubal district currently stayed at a rented house of the same locality with the former.

The two bodies were found lying near the roadside canal with several bullet injury marks.

Hands of both the slain youths were found tied with ropes on the backsides.

A driving license in the name of Jiten of Waikhong Khongyam recovered from the possession of one of the deceased.

A piece of paper written with "Army-gi informer oibagi hatpani (they were killed for being Army informer)" was found placing at the chest of one of the deceased (Challamba) pressed with two empty cases.

Police seized the same.

Villagers believed that the two were brought there and killed last night at about 11.30 as they heard sounds of gun firing last night around the time.

Families of Nanao said that he was engaged in charcoal business.

He went out yesterday at about 2.30 pm with Jiten on a Kinetic Honda saying that they were going to deliver money in connection with their business.

He also informed the family that he would also go to the workshop at Malom to take his car.

When he failed to return back, family contacted him over his mobile phone but could not reached him apart from searching his whereabouts.

However, the search ended with the recovery of the dead body this morning.

Police as well as family are yet to know who were responsible for the killing and for what reason.

Police has registered a case with regard to the incident and after postmortem at RIMS morgue handed over to the respective families.
