Killing ex-chief is attack on Kom people: Parijat

Imphal, November 27 2009: Terming that the murder of former chief of Thayong village of Imphal east district as suppressive act of major community to the minor community, The Komrem Peopple's Revolutionary Army (KPRA), the outfit has decided to investigate into the incident to fix the responsible group.

Meanwhile, the last rites of the former chief Reyamkhup Kom was performed today at his native village, Thayong.

State health and family welfare minister, Ph Parijat, chiefs of Kom villages and other communities settling in the area attended the funeral ceremony.

The KPRA today while taking serious note on the murder of the former chief and terming it as assault to the smaller community by the larger communities has decided to investigate into the case and find out the culprits for appropriate action.

Senior information and publicity officer, Rakesh speaking to some media persons somewhere in Imphal west district today informed that a two-man committee to investigate into the sensitive murder case has been formed.

If responsible group do not clarified well on time before the group take up armed and taken avenge, he cautioned adding that if clarified with true reasons behind, they will reconsider.

The group also expressed share to the shock suffered by the bereaved family.

On the other, taking part in the condolence service at the house of the former chief, state health and family welfare minister said that Rejamkhup was killed by those perpetrator thinking that none can take avenge.

There is no doubt that the murder related with villagers matter ad not personal matter.

He was man who respect by all Kom people and killing him is like attacking to the Kom tribe, Parijat added.

Thayong Chief Village Authority, Thayong Mother Association, Komrem Baptist Church have also expressed strong denounce on the murder of Rejamkhup.

President of the Komrem Union, John L Kaboung said, Rejamkhup was a man who worked for harmony among the different communities with due respect to each other.

He had stood against communal forces with the view that development in the reigon could be bring about by peaceful co-existence.

The Komrem Union, Manipur (NEI) while strongly condemning the act of murder of Rejamkhup urged all concerns not to commit such kind of crime against humanity.
