Imphal, February 27 2009: Some unidentified miscreants shot dead one man last night at around 7.30 pm at Phailem Kashmir Veng under Churachandpur police station.

Police retrieved the dead body this early morning, a report police said.

The killed man was later today identified as Lanshanglian Gangte (27) son of Lankholian Gangte.

Reports received here today said that the deceased Lanshanglian was shot dead before he entered to home after returning from Henglep village of the district yesterday.

He left home on February 25 last to take part in the distribution of rice to the village. He was abducted by the miscreants and shot dead later, the report added.

Police has registered a case regarding the incident and after performing postmortem handed over to the family.
