Imphal, February 23, 2010: Protest demonstrations were staged today at Takyelpat and Keishampat Kangabam Leikai against similar incidents of firing attacks in civilian populated areas by unidentified gun men.

The demonstration staged inside MANIDCO official complex, Takyelpat under the aegis of Manipur Industrial Development Corporation (MANIDCO) Employees' Association was in protest against firing attack at the Porompat, Thambalkhong residence of Manipur Industrial Development Corporation MANIDCO Executive Engineer K Inaobi in the night of February 18 and 19. Placards which read as, "we condemn firing attack at the residence of K Inaobi", "Let employees discharge their duties peacefully without any disturbance" etc adorned the protest site.

A similar protest demonstration was staged by local womenfolk of Keishampat Kangabam Leikai against the repeated firing attack at the residence of jeweller Oinam Jiban.

Placards and festoons which read as "We condemn firing/bomb attacks in populated areas", "Guns and bombs cannot bring any solution", "We want peace", "Don't make people scapegoat" etc were put up by the protesters.

The protest demonstration was staged under the joint aegis of the Kangabam Leikai Apunba Nupi Marup, Naharol Welfare Club and the Kangabam Leikai Development Committee.
