Imphal, October 18 2009: In an alleged indiscriminate firing by the troops of 31 Assam Rifles posting in Moreh last night, damages were caused to at least two houses nearby, report said.

The firing incident took place at about 12.30 am near the gate no..4The two houses which have been damaged in the firing were located nearby the AR post.

The houses belong to Subash Archaraya son of Netri Archaraya and Khangembam Mangol son of Shanti.

The houses were damaged when hit by the RPG shells fired out by the Assam Rifles.

Assam Rifles source said that the troops fired in retaliation to an attack conducted by undergrounds to the post.

The exchange of fire last for about half an hour.

However, residents were not satisfied with the AR report as per informed earlier, Assam Rifles fired out the guns and bombs as part of celebration of Diwali festival.
