Imphal, November 13 2008: FOUR CADRES belonging to different outfits operating in Manipur were arrested by security forces over the last two days while one civilian was shot at by three unidentified gunmen at Kumbi bazaar in Bishnupur district on today afternoon.

According to sources, three unidentified gunmen shot the civilian, identified as Nongmaithem Hemanta (24), son of (L) N Khunba of Kumbi Keithel Leikai, near his house.

The victim was shot in the throat with the bullet piercing through to his cheek, informed the sources while adding that the victim was in a critical condition and has been admitted to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS).

Meanwhile, a press statement by Jayenta, superintendent of Bishnupur district informed that two cadres of the Kangleipak Yaol Kanna Lup (KYKL) were arrested by a combined force of the Bishnupur police commandos and 4/8 Gurkha Regiment Wednesday following a search operations in the areas of Oinam, Mamangpat, Naorem, Leimapokpam and Wahengbam in Bishnupur district.

They were identified as Chirom Tiken son of Ch Shyam of Wahengbam and Yendrembam Shyamkumar (21), son of Y Ibomcha of Wahengkhuman Mamang Leikai.

Two 9mm pistols were recovered from their possession informed the SP.

Another press statement by Clay Khongsai, SP of Thoubal police informed that a cadre of the Kangleipak Communist Party-Military Council (KCP-MC) was arrested by the Thoubal police commandos Thursday morning at about 11 in the area of Wangbal.

The cadre has been identified as Keisham Ongbi Amom Thoibi Devi alias Abe Anal (26), wife of K Yaima of Ingourok, presently residing at Japhou Bazar in Chandel district.

Meanwhile, a cadre of the People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) was arrested by the Imphal West police commandos informed L Kailun, Senior Superintendent of Imphal West police in press statement here on Thursday.

The cadre was arrested in the morning hours of Thursday from his residence informed the SP.

The cadre has been identified as Thingujam Robert alias Khello (23), son of Th Basanta of Kakwa Nameirakpam Leikai, in Imphal West, according to police source.
