Imphal, July 07 2009: The Joint Action Committee (JAC) formed against the killing of the contractor, Yengkhom Krishnadas has called 24 hours statewide bandh from 5am of July 9 alleging the state government of failing to arrest the main culprits involved in the killing.

Announcing this at a press meet today at the Manipur Press Club, a spokesman of the JAC, Kshetrimayum Kennedy criticised the government for its inability to arrest the main culprits involved in the killing of Y Krishnadas.

It seems the government is attempting to shield the main culprits even after the arrest of other conspirators including Ashalata and the mastermind of the crime, Th Nando.

The failure on the part of the government to arrest the main culprits has prompted this JAC to call a 24-hour statewide bandh, Kennedy said.

Accordingly, the statewide bandh will begin from 5am of July 9 and will end at 5am of July 10.Kennedy said education and emergency matters will be exempted from the purview of the bandh.

Meanwhile, speaking on the occasion, the wife of (L) Y Krishnadas, Yengkhom (O) Bimola is deeply suspicious of the involvement of security forces in the killing of her husband.

Giving reasons, she questions why the Van used in the abduction of her husband could not be identified or established yet, and why the persons whom Ashalata had handed over the ransom money could not be established and announced to the public.

She also suspects the killing might have connection with individual, financial and political factors.
