Imphal, January 04 2008: FOUR PERSONS including two suspected insurgents were found killed in two separate incidents in Manipurs Imphal West district on Sunday.

Police sources said a combined forces of Imphal west police commandoes and 12 Maratha light infantry gunned down two suspected Insurgents in an encounter at Eshok area under Wangoi Police Station around 1.40 pm.

In another incident, two persons believed to have been kidnapped from somewhere were found shot dead at an adjoining paddy field of Kharam Loukon and Kharam Keithel under Lamshang police station in the morning.

Security forces recovered one Chinese hand grenade and a 9 mm pistol from the possession of the slain suspects whose dead bodies have been shifted to RIMS mortuary identification and autopsy.

None of the insurgent organisation operating in the state claimed their involvement in the killings.

Similarly the police personnel of Lamshang police station also evacuated the dead bodies of the two suspected civilians to RIMS morgue for further identification and post mortem.

One of the deceased was reported to be a handicap and pair of clippers were also recovered from him, sources added.

The reason behind the killing is not known immediately.

Meanwhile the person killed in an alleged encounter that took place at Yairipok Yambem Iroilok under Yairipok Police station between combined force of Thoubal Police Commandos and Army personnel on Saturday morning has been identified as one Sagolsem Ibohanbi (25) of Uchiwa in Manipurs Imphal west district.

The other victim of another encounter at Nongpok Sanjenbam village under Imphal East district on Saturday morning was identified as one Y Surjit (28) of Sandrok village, sources added.

On Friday, the second day of this new year 2009, security forces also shot dead three suspected insurgents in two separate reported encounters in Bishnupur district.
