Meanwhile, the Crime Prevention and Detection Bureau (CPDB), which is attached to the Home Department of the Kangleipak Communist Party, has completed the preliminary round of investigation into the abduction and subsequent murder of a junior sub-editor of the Imphal Free Press, namely Konsam Rishikanta Singh.

The findings of the preliminary round of investigation indicates involvement of certain officials, most probably CDO officials, of the Manipur Police Department as well as some individuals who are reportedly on intimate terms with some top CDO officials in the crime, it said.

Their involvement in the crime will however not be confirmed until the final round of investigation is over and CPDB officials are making good headway in the investigation, the statement said expressing that the investigation is very close to complete the final round of their "painstaking" investigation.

The statement also appealed to the people of Manipur to resort to some strong action, rather than seeking CBI probe or something like that, against killing innocent civilians reminding that the sensational kidnapping and subsequent murder case of Lungnila Elizabeth which the CBI investigation into the case is pending in the court.

It would be foolish to except the CBI to deliver justice for the people of Manipur, it said adding that the CBI is after all an instrument of the "colonial Government of India" whose loyal armed forces are solely responsible for killing many innocent civilians in the name of counter-insurgency.
