Imphal, December 31 2008: FAMILY OF the slain commander in chief Akoijam Kokkai today has alleged that he was killed after rounded up with his wife Thaba from Amarjan of Assam by the security personnel while denouncing the police report of killing him in encounter.

He was picked up on December 29 from his house at Amarjan in Assam with his wife AK Thaba and killed by the combined force of Imphal east police commandos and troops of 39 Assam Rifles near a bush at Mongjam village, alleged the family who turned up to the RIMS morgue for receiving the dead body of Kokai after postmortem. They also said that the whereabouts of his wife Thaba could not be traced out till date, the family added.

Meanwhile, police has handed over the dead body of Thiyam Ibungo (20) son of Ningthou of Thoubal Nganukhong who was killed by a combined force of Imphal west police commandos and Assam Rifles on December 23 last after an agreement was brought about between the local MLA and Deputy Speaker Th Shyamkumar with the father of the Ibungo today.
