Imphal, June 29 2009: Two persons were killed in an encounter yesterday around 9.30pm by the Bishnupur district police commando at Moirang Okshongbung Makha in Bishnupur district, according to a statement issued by the SP of Bishnupur district.

One carbine with five live rounds, one 9mm pistol with four live rounds and two demand letters of KCP signed by s/s Major Nongthang, chief project officer of KCP were recovered from the possession of the slain men, it stated.

The dead bodies have been deposited at RIMS Morgue for identification and autopsy.

A case has been registered at Moirang PS for investigation, it added.

Meanwhile, in unrelated incident, another UG suspect was killed in a reported encounter this evening around 6.50 by a team of Imphal West district police commando and 28 AR at a place near Catholic School, Liwa Road under Singjamei Police Station.

One 9mm pistol with three live rounds, two miss fired bullets, and some empty cases were recovered from the possession of the slain suspect.

The dead body has been deposited at RIMS morgue for identification.

At the same time, the Bishnupur police release also stated that a high ranking cadre of the KYKL was arrested along with a woman identified as Urikkhinbam Devita (24) daughter of (L) U Devan of Moirang Mairembam Leikai, presently staying at Palace Compound, from Delhi by a team of Bishnupur Police commando and Delhi Police, Special Cell in a joint operation at New Delhi, South Extension Zone, Part II.

It stated that the arrested KYKL cadre is RK Raghunath alias Nongsaba (37) son of RK Bishwanath of Ningthoukhong.

A case has been registered against the arrested KYKL cadre at Delhi Police, Special Cell for further investigation.
