Imphal, March 26 2009: Two men killed by unknowns while a suspected underground activist gunned down by security forces in different gun related incidents occurred today even as five underground activists nabbed by the security forces.

Official reports said that two persons were killed by unknown gunmen at Irong Thokchom under Thoubal police station.

The slain men were identified as Md Ayub Khan (21) son of Riyashuddin, Lilong Keithel and Md Firoz khan (220 son of late Md Akrap Ali of Kiyamgei Laphupat.

Another one identified as Md Ahmad (22) son of Md Lijaman of Lilong Bazar escaped from the hand of the gunmen.

He sustained injury when he run away escaping from the assailants.

Reports said that three youths had gone out from home saying that they are going to attend a Nikah ceremony of one of their friends at Thoubal today in a motorcycle (MN-01-R-3401) at around 1 pm.

After attending the wedding ceremony, the trio went to meet a girl who is known only through mobile phone at Mayang Imphal Irong.

On the way they were stopped by some unknown persons and alleged them of PULF (Umar Kajir) group and before giving reply, they took out guns and fired at them.

They first fired at Firoz, then to the others.

Ahmad who was hit by the butt of the gun escaped from the assailants even though at chased after him by firing.

He reached home before caught by the firing.

Meanwhile, a combined team of Thoubal police commandos and troops of 21 Assam Rifles gunned down one youth suspected to be underground today at around 5.15 pm in what police said in counter occurred near the Pole State College, Wabagai Tera Pishak under Kakching police station.

An AK-47 rifles with a magazine containing two live rounds of ammunitions recovered from the slain suspect whose identity could not be immediately established, police report said.

Meanwhile, at least five cadres of the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) working in the recruitment cell of the outfit under the command of one Korou were arrested Thursday by the Thoubal district police commandos from different places.

SP Thoubal Clay Khongsai in a statement today said that the district police commandos nabbed two of them during a search operation in the Thoubal area since the wee-hours of Thursday.

They were identified as M Shantikumar, son of Ibochouba of Langathel and N Gulapi son of Naba of Heirok Part II.

In the flowed up action to the disclosures made by the two, three more cadres of the KCP were from Imphal area involved in recruiting its cadres.

They have been identified as L Jane (55) son of (L) L Ningthem of Naoremthong area, Th Ibungcha (31) son of Rajeshore of Naoremthong area and Kh Nimaichan (53) son of (L) Kh Binoy of Loitang Sandum, the statement of the SP added.

On primary interrogation, police revealed that the cadres were working in the recruiting cell of the KCP under the command of one Korou and that two fresh cadres had been recruited recently on payment of Rs.35,000/ each.
