Imphal, May 25 2009: The proscribed United National Liberation Front (UNLF) has held Chief Minister O Ibobi responsible for all the fake encounters which the outfit terms as India's sponsored state terrorism that have been taking place every now and then in the state claiming several lives.

A statement released by the senior publicity officer of UNLF, Ksh Yoiheiba stated that there is no gainsaying the fact that the IOF and its collaborator, the Manipur police commando are unleashing state terrorism and terrorising the people of the state.

The killings which happen on daily basis are the demonstration of the fact.

The statement asserted that the recent killing incident of Loitongbam Satish alias Tomba on charge of a PLA cadre and the arrest of Pebam Gunindro were the authentication of criminal acts let loose by the IOF's Assam Rifles.

The fact that Gunindro who survives from the hands of the IOF was threatened with meting the fate of Manorama in case he leaked out the truth in the killing incident of Satish by the 23 AR personnel has clearly indicated that they (IOF) are killing the people of Manipur anytime they like, the UNLF statement observed.

Yoiheiba also noted that more than 200 people have been killed by the combined forces of IOF and state police commando in staged encounters in the state within the last six months.

It stated that 1-2 persons have been killed daily in an average while most of the slain people were dressed in combat or weapons placed near them and making false claim through the media.

In fact, most of the victims were innocent civilians barring some retired undergrounds settling down with their respective families for years, the UNLF statement noted while adding, they were arrested from their houses or localities or workplaces and were killed later in claimed encounters.

It added that various JACs have been formed against the killings and intense agitations have been launched against the administration.

Though the PRO of the IOF and the government have asserted that the slain persons were all undergrounds by scheming propaganda, the public know well that they were not.

The UNLF statement further stated that two police commando personnel involved in the arrest of Khwairakpam Megha serving jail term is the recent incident which proved the fact.

It stated that the two involved personnel could be booked when some honest personnel speak the truth.

But, it noted, nothing has been done to the Assam Rifles.

There were several instances of ex-cadres of the MPA being killed in Moreh area in staged encounters after their arrest from Imphal, the UNLF statement asserted.

Holding the Chief Minister O Ibobi responsible for all such killings, the statement charged that the IOF personnel are taking advantage of Ibobi's daring statement that revolutionaries fighting for the restoration of the lost independence, even their family members, and their acquaintances would not be spared.

Ibobi is being able to maintain his silence over the voices that were raised against the killing since crore of rupees have been sanctioned to Ibobi to suppress the liberation movement, Yoiheiba observed.

The statement reminds everyone that Ibobi is the one who is watching all the killings and atrocities like a carnival while also calling for all concerned to unite in the struggle against the killings with severe impact.

It also stated that all vested leaders like Ibobi should be taught a lesson.
