Imphal, April 24 2009: SECURITY FORCES personnel gunned down atleast two militant suspects Friday in two separate incidents in Manipur.

Combined forces of 23 Assam rifles and Thoubal district police commandos claimed to have gunned down one suspected activist of the Kangleipak Communist Party-Military Council (KCP-MC) in an encounter early Friday morning around 6:15 at Laikot Ching under Lamlai police station in Imphal East district of Manipur.

The combined forces also claimed to have recovered a 9mm pistol along with six live ammunitions and a drivers' license from the possession of the slain militant.

Similarly, a combined force of 12 Maratha Light Infantry and Imphal West district police commandos also claimed to have gunned down one militant suspect in an encounter at Ningombam area in Imphal West district of Manipur and recovered a 9 mm pistol along with two live ammunitions.
