Imphal, March 24 2009: In the continued killing spree, in yet again, a combined team of Imphal west police commandos and troops of 16 Maratha Li gunned down a suspected underground activist this afternoon at Tairenpokpi some 4 km west of Lamshang police station.

An AK-47 rifles with a magazine loaded with 15 live rounds recovered from the slain suspect who was killed in what police said in encounter occurred at the place today at around 4.30 pm.

The dead body has been retrieved from the spot by the police and deposited at RIMS morgue for identification.

On the other hand, the slain men killed by the Imphal west police yesterday at Kangchabi Leirak were identified today by the families.

They were name as Thongam Ibomcha (31) son of Lukhoi of Soibam Leikai Ayangpali road and MD Juma Khan alias Boy (28) son of late Anawar Ali of Lilong Keithel.

Ibomcha, according to family was a drug and recently freed from jail around three month back and currently residing at a rented house at Thangmeiband while Juma Khan was a tablet user and came out from jail some days back.

Families do not know whether they were related with underground elements.

Dead bodies have been accepted by the families after postmortem at RIMS morgue today.
