UNLF refutes army claim

Imphal, January 24 2009: The proscribed UNLF today has refuted the claim of the Army authority killing five cadres of the MPA in the January 18 clash at Khenjang with the troops of 10 Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry while reiterating that in the attack which destroyed a sentry post of the Army, none of its MPA members inflicted casualties.

The statement of the senior publicity officer of the outfit also alleged that they have information of killing one civilian and injuring to another villager located within the Myanmar territory when the security forces fired uncountable numbers of mortar across the international border in the aftermath of the attack by the MPA.

Mention may be made that reacting to the claim made by the UNLF regarding destruction of a sentry post of the security forces and infliction of casualties to the personnel manning the post, a statement of the IGAR(S) yesterday while turning down the UNLF claim said that at least five cadres of the UNLF killed in the clash that erupted in retaliation to the attack on that day.

It is the attitude of the Indian security forces trying to conceal the news of their defeat from the media or reduce it at their best level the statement charged the authority of the security forces citing that for this matter they appoint PRO.

The claimed of the PRO appeared in local newspaper today was a make up one and trying to conceal the killing of more than four soldiers, the statement said adding that in the ambush which MPA cadres rained gun shots uninterrupted the soldiers with surprise could not retaliated.

It was only after the surprise attack and the MPA retreated from the area, the security open fire with mortar towards the village located across the international border, it stated.
