Bomb hurling IRB man remanded in police custody

Imphal, August 23 2009: L Munal of 2nd Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) who was arrested in connection with the bomb attack at Chamber of Commerce Hospital here on August 21 was produced before Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Imphal.

He has been remanded for seven days in police custody.

On demand of police, he was initially remanded for 10 days however the magistrate curtailed it to seven days of remand for further investigation.

Meanwhile, he has been placed under suspension from service.

L Munal is repoted to have confessed to the police on August 21 that he worked for the proscribed outfit, KCP-MC.

He also admitted that he was involved in hurling hand grenades at two private hospitals namely Shanti Hospital and Langol View Clinic.

It may be recalled that Shanti Hospital was attacked on July 27 and on the very next day Langol View was attacked.

On further questioning by the police L.Munal had revealed that he received Rs.5,000 for carrying out the attack.

He had allegedly made about Rs 40,000 so far by hurling and blasting hand grenades.

The last Friday's hand grenade was handed over to him by one Abe at Sanakeithel on August 18 .

He is working as a rifleman in 2nd IRB and currently posted at Khuman Lampak, battalion headquarter.
