Imphal, June 22 2009: One of the accused conspirators in the murder of Yengkhom Krishnadas, Seram Ongbi Ashalata Devi was produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal today and has been remanded in judicial custody for 15 days.

On the other hand, police rearrested two inmates of Central Jail, Sajiwa detained under National Security Act (NSA) in connection with the investigation into the case of murder of Krishnadas.

Police obtained permission from the court concerned for rearresting the two inmates.

With the arrest of the two, so far police have re-arrested three inmates of Central Jail, Sajiwa as part of the investigation.

Ashalata was produced in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal, BK Sharma.

Police prayed to court to remand her in the police custody for 15 days till July 6 .

Counsel of Ashalata argued that since she is not involved in the crime, she must be released on bail under CRPC Section 437.Howeve, the court rejected her plea.

The Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal, BK Sharma directed her not to meet any visitor during the period of remand in judicial custody.

The court also instructed the authority to keep her in isolation ward.

Meanwhile, the two inmates rearrested from Sajiwa jail are Ningthoujam Jiten @ Angang@Chaiba (20) son of N Yaima, Keiranphabi Mamang Leikai and Laishram Gunamani @ Guru (28), son of L Rajen of Kongba Laishram Leikai.

The two were rearrested from the jail following disclosure made by Thokchom Nando during interrogation.

N Jiten is a KCP member and L Gunamani is a PREPAK activist.
