Imphal, June 13 2009: Troops of 31 Assam Rifles and 29 Assam Rifles gunned down four suspected ultras in two separate incidents in Manipurs Chandel district this morning.

According to Assam Rifles press releases,based on specific information regarding movement of militant cadres from Myanmar to Imphal valley, 31 Assam Rifles laid multiple ambushes in general area Lokchao Nala track junction on Saturday morning.

On being challenged by troops the individuals fired and tried to flee,the troops came out to the flank of the militants and killed both the Undergrounds around 3.35 in the morning,it added.

One G 3 Rifles,4 live rounds, one US made lathode, two Chinese hand grenade and one each of live bombs of lathode and fired case of lathode were recovered from the slain militants.

The slain Undergrounds along with recovered item has been handed over to Moreh Police station.

Similarly troops of 29 Assam Rifles claimed to have killed two more undergrounds following a multiple ambushes in general area Bongli on Saturday.

The incident took place on the track Bongli Kuljang around 4.45 in the morning.

One AK 47 with magazine, one live round, four fired cases, one 9 mm Pistol with magazine, four Chinese hand grenades and two IEDs were recovered from the slain militants.

The slain undergrounds along with recovered items have been handed over to Tengnoupal Police station.

In another development, troops of 34 Assam Rifles arrested one cadre of proscribed Peoples Liberation Army Rojit, 30 years, son of Mani of Thoubal Lokhem Leirak from general area of Finga Market on Saturday and later handed over to Yairipok Police Station.
