Imphal, June 12 2009: Manipur Bhavan in Kolkata has been kept under West Bengal police protection in the aftermath of the killing of migrant labours from the state in Manipur even as with one of the two wounded survivors succumbed to his injury Friday afternoon, the dead toll in the freshly erupted attack on non-local migrant last night at Central Agricultural University, Imphal labours rose to four.

Meanwhile, in the aftermath of migrants killing incident, about hundred non-locals from various places in Imphal have been shifted to Dharamsala, Thangal bazaar by security forces today.

An inform report Manipur Bhavan at Kolkata said that following intrusion of around eight unknown persons intruded into the Bhavan and enquired about the names and details of the local men killed in Manipur to the staffs of the bhavan.

When the staffs said that they did not know anything as they are staying there, the unknown youths went out of the bhavan.

On informing the developing situation, DRC on request sent a police team to protect the bhavan.

Two gunmen intruded inside the CAU campus last night at around 8 pm and shot guns at six labourers housing at a makeshift camp inside the campus after herding them at an empty place in the same campus.

Three died at the spot while one seriously injured succumbed to his injury today afternoon.

All hailed from West Bengal.

Three of them all hailing died at the spot in the indiscriminate shooting spree, two sustained bullet injuries while another who run away taking advantage of the darkness of the place escaped unhurt.

One of the two injured persons, identified as Jagnath Mandal who was hit with one bullet at the head succumbed to his injuries today at around 1.30 pm after struggling for life at hospital where he was evacuated by last night for medical treatment.

Nineteen year-old Jagnath with other victims hailed from Dhal Bazar of West Bengal's Parganas district.

On the other hand, the police and security force have shifted hundred of non-locals from various places in Imphal to Dharamsala, Thangal bazaar in Imphal considering their security.

Most of these migrant workers were collected from Iroisemba, about 44 (forty-four) of them, twenty-two from Lamphel and thirty-five from Kakwa police station.

Brought in a truck by security forces personnel, they were earlier kept at Bengali High School at Babupara in Imphal East to due to their high number which was said to be way above the capacity of Dharamsala.

However, they were later kept up at Dharamsala for their better safety.

The executive magistrate, sub-divisional magistrate and Imphal police officer in charge (O.C) made a visit to the Dharamsala and inspected the situation of the migrant workers put up there.
