Imphal, June 09 2009: The migrant workers sheltered at Dharamsala, Thangal bazaar in Imphal in the aftermath of the murder of non-locals in Manipur have appealed the government of Manipur to bring the prevailing situation to normalcy as soon as possible so as to restart their lives once again.

Stating they cannot trust the government of the state as no help has come-forth to them in the last few days that they were kept at Dharamsala, the migrant workers appealed the government of the state to control the situation so that they could restart their lives.

They also asserted they do not want to depend on the government or suffer anymore after assurances from government officials that they would come back to help but never did.

"We just want to go back and live our routine lives", they asserted.

Meanwhile, the department of the Imphal West deputy commissioner visited the relief camp and extended monetary help of Rs.200/ per head.

There are still 21 (twenty-one) non-locals at Dharamsala camp including three women and four children.

A good number have reportedly left for their home state in Bihar.

Despite the monetary help, the non-locals expressed dissatisfactory questioning what they could actually do with a mergre sum of Rs.200/ when many of them have been starving while some were in need of medical facilities.

Shanty Devi, a 40 year old grocer hailing from Bihar, informing they were six member family, questioned how long they could survive with the money given to them when they have to pay house rents and their son was to write his half yearly exams in few days time.

Reminding that the government of the state had been able to give them good support in the previous such incidents, she questioned why the government could not do the same this time.

In this regard, she asserted they were paid the ex-gratia for the loss of their shops and that they would leave the state.

"We've lived so long in Manipur making it our home but how long do we have to suffer," she stated.
