One gets NSA, four remanded, four released

Imphal, October 03 2009: Out of nine persons arrested by the police in connection with the detection of an IED-laden car in the premises of the Raj Bhavan on September 18 last, four have been further remanded in police custody and one has been booked under NSA while the rest have been released on bail.

All the nine persons apprehended by the Imphal west police commandos in connection with the failed bomb attack case and handed over to the Imphal city police were produced in the court of JM First Class, Imphal East, Dr Ch Shantibala.

One of the persons arrested in connection with the case identified as Sorokhaibam Sanayaima (44), son of late Nitai of Salam Mayai Leikai has been detained under NSA by an order of the Imphal west district magistrate today.

Court also remanded him in the police custody for 15 days along with the other four.

Police taken remand four of them further in their custody for further investigation by the court after hearing arguments from both the counsels of the allege accused and government.

They were Khumanlambam jiten alias Tyson alias borchand (35) son of Shamu of Nongren Mayai Leikai, Chongtham Laingam alias Budhi (36) son of late Doren of Sagolband Tera, Khumanlakpam Naba (54) son of late Modhu of Porompat Nongmeibung and RK Ingocha (41) son of late Netrajit of Singjamei bheigyabati Leikai.

The rest four who have been released by the police on bail with surety amount of Rs 20,000 each were, Yumnam Boy (29) son of Pullei of Langmeidong Mayai Leikai, Sapam Gunamani (41) son of late Tomal of Bamon Leikai, Tamphamayum Mangi (53) son of Tomei of Loitang Khunou and Yumnam Ranjit (41) son of late Tomba of Sekmai Maharabi.

Imphal city police registered a case under section 121/121-A, 307, UA(P)A Act, section 16/18/20 and explosive substance Act 5 under FIR 92(9)09 against the persons arrested in connection with the Raj Bhavan case.

City police re-arrested Khumanlakpam Jiten, Chongdam Laingam and RK Ingocha again with connection another case (FIR no.149 (12)08 under section U/S 121/121(a), 307 of IPC, 16/18/20 UA(P) Act and 25-1 (B) registered at the same police station, source said.
