Imphal, January 02 2008: AT LEAST two suspected cadres of the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) were gunned down in an alleged shoot out with Bishnupur police commandos this morning, while another one was arrested by Thoubal police commandos on Thursday evening.

Detailing of the alleged shootout, a police source informed that the incident took place between Leijaron and Chothe Maring village, 8 kms south west of Bishnupur Police Station wherein two were gunned down while about five suspects managed to escape.

The incident occurred at about 9 am today, added the police source.

A 9mm pistol along with two live rounds, two Chinese hand grenades and some letter heads along with the demand letter which had the signature of one Rohit, a project manager of the outfit were recovered from the deceased, informed the police source.

The two corpses have been deposited at the morgue of the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) hospital by the Bishnupur Police for identification, added the police source.

In another incident, a combined force of Bishnupur district police commandos, 7 AR and 193 BSF shot dead yet another suspected underground activist around 2 pm today.

The incident occured at Ungamen Pat of Nongmaikhong area about 12 kms north east of Kumbi PS.

One 9mm pistol and four live rounds were recovered from him.

Police have moved the body to the Bishnupur police campus for the purpose of identification and post mortem examination.

Meanwhile, a press statement issued by the Superintendent of Police of Thoubal district police informed that the Thoubal police commandos late Thursday evening at about 7:30 arrested a cadre of the KCP from Thoubal Haokha.

The arrested cadre has been identified as Thokchom Suresh (29) @ Muri, son of Late ThYaima of Thoubal Mamang Leikai.
