Imphal, May 31 2009: The IRB man who was arrested by the police in connection with the murder of MU professor, Md Islamuddin has been remanded in judicial custody for seven days till May 6 .

Kangjam Dimajit (30), rifleman of 3rd IRB of Haobam Marak Kangjam Leikai was produced before the duty magistrate M Padameshwor, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal at his residence at Keishamthong Top Leirak by the Singjamei Police Station today.

His rifleman number is 132001226 .

Dimajit was arrested and produced before the duty magistrate in connection with the FIR case no.109 (5) 09 under section 123, 302, 120-B, 34 of IPC and under section 16, 20 UA (P) Act and Armed Act section 25 (1-B) registered.

Police produced Dimajit before the duty magistrate with a prayer for remanding him further in judicial custody so that police could make arrest of the culprits behind the murder of the professor.

Mention may be made that police have arrested at least 13 students, volunteers of the student bodies namely DESAM, AMSU and MSF in connection with the murder case and remanded them in the police custody till June 2 .
