Imphal, February 28 2009: The two persons who have been killed yesterday in an encounter with the Imphal East district police commandos were members of the KCP(MC) who have involvement in the bomb attack at various Congress offices, according to the Imphal East district Superintendent of Police, Radheshyam.

Briefing reporters today, the Imphal East SP, Radheshyam said that the two persons killed in the encounter were members of KCP(MC) Lanheiba Group.

He said that one AK-56 rifle along with magazine, one .32 pistol along with one magazine with three live rounds, and a Chinese made hand grenade have been recovered from the possession of the slain KCP(MC) cadres.

One note-pad, with an inscription of various District and Block level Congress offices and Congress workers to be attacked is also found, the SP revealed.

He further said that the deceased cadres have been identified as Laishram Second (32) s/o (L) Nungshitombi of Thamnapokpi and Ashangbam Jadumani (35) s/o Rabe of Maiba Khul.

Radheshyam also said that the identity of a PULF cadre who was killed in an encounter with the combined forces of IE district police commandos and 28AR yesterday has been established.

He said the slain cadre was Sayed Yunus Ali (30) s/o (L) Nazeeruddin of Setji.

A 9mm pistol was recovered from his possession.
